Creating a sustainable future for the Auckland regionThe Auckland Sustainability Framework (PDF 2.19m) aims to help our region secure a better quality of life, and create a sustainable future socially, culturally, economically and environmentally. This framework is the first of its kind for Auckland, taking a 100+ year view. It will provide direction so that our local authorities and central government agencies can work together with a common purpose to embrace the opportunities and face the challenges associated with developing a truly sustainable region. Who's involvedThe Framework is a collaborative effort led by all of the region’s councils working with central government, Mana Whenua and the academic, business and community sectors. Importantly, the process has also involved the Auckland Region’s youth. These groups have all worked together to develop a Framework that will enable Aucklanders to enjoy a high quality of life and leave a positive legacy for future generations. The participating local authorities of the Auckland region and central government agencies (co-ordinated through the Government Urban and Economic Development Office (GUEDO)) are listed below.
Thank you for your inputThe first version of the Framework was unveiled at the end of 2006. Since then work has continued to develop it to this point. A key part of this process has been gathering feedback from a wider range of stakeholders and the public and looking at what this means for the Framework. See "Feedback Received" for more about this process. The agencies taking part in this project would like to thank all those who came to workshops or made submissions to help with the development of the Auckland Sustainability Framework. [ back to top ]
